Brenda Hill, Owner of The Passionate Preserver
I didn’t always appreciate the craft of canning and preserving as I watched generations of my family work through the sometimes labor-intensive tradition each summer. My newfound passion for the art evolved over the years while assisting with food preparation for cooking classes and teaching canning and preserving as part of hospital wellness programs and at other venues across metro Atlanta.
Now, I happily embrace the tradition, but with a modern spin. While I literally will preserve anything for my friends’ and family’s enjoyment, my goal for my small business is to focus on developing preserves that are robust with natural flavor and contain lower sugar. I have fun developing recipes that allow the real essence of my products – the fruit and other produce from local growers — to shine.
I am the owner and CEO of The Passionate Preserver, a local, home-based business where I develop a superior menu of jams and jellies that Celebrate the flavor, not the sugar.
